Tummy troubles? What you can look out for
Some dogs have more sensitive tummies than others, so it’s worth knowing what might cause an upset. Here are common triggers to watch out for:
Scavenging: Dogs love to sniff out snacks, but eating things they shouldn’t—especially off-lead—can lead to tummy trouble. It's always best to keep an eye on them when out and about!
Diet: Sudden food changes can upset digestion. Switch gradually and look out for sensitivities to certain ingredients. A natural diet can help many or you can ask a vet for advice about any potential intolerances.
Stress: Just like us, stress can affect dogs’ digestion. Be aware of any stressful situations, like vet visits or long car rides and consider either our Tree Barks Powder or Digestive Tablets to help soothe their stomach on the day.
Parasites: Worms and other internal parasites can cause loose stools. Regular worming and stool tests can help keep your dog healthy and rule out that being the cause of any digestive upset.
Medical reasons: If your dog’s upset tummy lasts more than 24 hours, we'd always recommend speaking to your vet - just to be sure no underlying issues are the cause.
